Message Notes
Got Stress? // What Are You Looking For? // 05.05.24
Too often, we focus our eyes on matters that don't matter! However, sometimes, we can focus on things that matter a lot, but we can't see how they will ever be resolved or how we will ever overcome them. This Sunday, we will be discussing and putting into practice what we should be looking for!
What Are You Looking For?
Philippians 4:4-9
- It is your _________ what you _________
2 Kings 6:13-17
2. __________ where you _____________
3. Our job is to ________________ through the chaos
Discussion Questions – 05.05.24 – Got Stress?
Intro: Take some time write down a list of blessing in your life that you are grateful for. Be ready to share this list with your group, and keep this list somewhere where you can see it every day and thank God for the good things in your life.
1. How does cultivating a heart of gratitude help us shift our focus from stressors to God's goodness, and what practical steps can we take to cultivate gratitude in our lives?
2. What are the temptations you struggle with when it comes to dwelling on the “not so good” in this world? What are some practical ways you can learn to not dwell on the bad/evil of this world?
3. Read Psalms 46 as a group. What do you see the writer of Psalms trying to portray to you? What are some practical ways we can cultivate stillness and quietude in our lives to better focus on God and reduce stress?
4. What are some worship songs you can sing when life gets stressful? How do they speak to you in times of need? In what ways do they encourage you to trust God.
5. In James 1:2-4, believers are encouraged to consider trials as opportunities for growth and endurance. How does shifting our perspective on stressors as opportunities for spiritual growth help us maintain focus on God rather than succumbing to anxiety?
